We were finalists in two categories: Professional Services and Emerging Business, so needless to say, we were looking forward to an exciting, and what we hoped would be, a successful night.
The ambience was fantastic. The company of business peers – inspirational. The food – to savour. The butterflies – very active!
We looked fabulous (so say ourselves) and the excitement mounted as the finalists and recipient for each award were announced. To have been chosen as a finalist in not one but two categories was a wonderful affirmation of the effort and commitment of our creative team. It’s been an amazing journey over the past two-and-a-half years, from two of us sharing a home-based office to an eight-strong organisation in vibrant central city premises.
Entering the 2015 Westpac Waikato Business Excellence Awards was another big step for us.
We knew we were up against strong competition for the Professional Services Business of the Year and we were thrilled at Ryan and Jenna Russell’s success in securing not only this award but also the Supreme Award for the outstanding performance of their Essential Recycling and Waste Services. Along with all the other businesses present, we applauded – loudly – their passion for transforming New Zealanders’ love affair with waste in favour of recycling.
Listening to the applause when our name was read out as the winner of the Emerging Business of the Year Award was amazing.
When Waikato Regional Council Chairperson Paula Southgate made the presentation, we found it hard to contain our excitement, well, sheer joy really. To have such a positive acknowledgement by our business peers is something we could never have envisaged when we started our marketing consultancy.
So a huge THANK YOU to all of our clients who have entrusted us with their marketing portfolios and supported us so warmly in our endeavours. We thrive on the challenge of devising and delivering the right blend of practical solutions for each of you – and our interactions have enabled HGB to grow and develop its expertise.
Receiving the Emerging Business Award is also a very public endorsement of our consultancy’s experiential approach, our values and our professionalism. Like the 2015 Rugby World Cup winners, ours is a team achievement, one that we will celebrate, benchmark and resolve to maintain.
Here’s to another successful year of business in the Waikato.
